For the past seven years I have been engaged in Journalistis work in the crown Colony of Hongkong, and,
after
a period of home leave, I am shortly returning te resume my duties on the editorial staff of the Hongkong Telegraph”.
My work in Hongkong has made me conversant with the conditions, political and social, which prevail there. With this knowledge in mind, I feel, if I may so express it, that you will be serving Imperial interests if you can give me, for publication in the "Hongkong Telegraph", a message to the people of Hongkong,
in common with Britishers in all parts of the world, are taking a keen and active interest in the War in Europe. I should therefore deem it a privilege if, after taking note of the following facts, you would favour me with a reply which I could make publie on my return to the Colony. A reply such as you could give, would, I am sure, help to enhance and consolidate the loyalty of the His Majesty's subjects, not only in Hongkong, but throughout the yar mat generally, where the "Telegraph® circulates.
